For over twenty years, I have made art accessible to students from kindergarten through high school. It’s my goal to guide students to artistic discoveries and to help them reach their potential as creative individuals

About Heather

Heather Hoag is a North Carolina licensed educator with over 20 years of experience teaching art fundamentals, art history, and advanced placement art studio. She comes with experience as a College Board group leader where she helped to ensure accuracy of grading of AP Studio 2D and 3D portfolio work submitted from students across the world.

Heather is excited to offer art instruction to the Charlotte home school community with weekly lessons following a six week, rotating curriculum. Class size is limited to ensure that every student receives the instruction and focus they deserve.

Drawing Fundementals

Learn the basic skills of breaking down the visual world into primary geometric forms, line, shadow, form, color, and composition.

3D Paper Engineering

Classes begin October 31

Learn the fundamentals of folding paper to transform two dimensional planes into three dimensional shapes. Use the basic folds to create a colorful low relief sculpture. Learn basic pop up bases to create your own paper sculpture/pop up book.

Advanced Portfolio Consultation

Individual portfolio consultations for high school students wishing to pursue art and design as a profession, or students who intend to submit an AP portofolio to the College Board, as a part of their home school education.

FAQ

  • We meet in host homes with small groups of students. Currently classes are meeting in Mint Hill, South Park, and Waxhaw.

  • Classes are $45 per week (usually a six, once a week lessons), or $250 for a six week class if paid in advance.

    Advanced portfolio consultations are monthly meetings leading up to portfolio submission at the end of the school year. The schedule and work are demanding and cost $1400 for the year.
